CERT TRAININGCERT TRAINING OFFERED BY FRISCO FIRE DEPARTMENT The Frisco Fire Department has announced that applications for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training are now being accepted. The FFD sponsors and provides teachers for the courses. Classes are scheduled for Monday evenings from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. beginning Sept. 12 and continuing through Nov. 14. The CERT program is an all-risk, all-hazard training program which instructs citizens about disaster preparedness and how to respond to a disaster on a large-scale basis, according to the Frisco Fire Department. Once trained, CERT members are able to give immediate assistance to victims, organize spontaneous volunteers at an emergency site, and provide critical support, including collecting disaster intelligence to professional first responders. Fire fighters and paramedics lead the training classes and the citizens who receive this training can then be integrated into the fire department’s response capability in the event of a disaster. For information contact the Frisco Fire Department at 972-335-5525 or visit the website at www.friscofire.com. Freedom MeadowDedication of Freedom Meadow: The Frisco Garden Club and the City of Frisco invites everyone to attend the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony of Freedom Meadow. Many of you have read about the progress over the last two years and on Thursday, September 8th at 7 PM, you'll be able to see the garden and meadow dedicated. The Frisco Police and Fire Departments will participate with activities only seen at events such as this. Every parent will want to bring their children - you will not want to miss the pageantry. It will be a time for all to reflect on the freedoms we have and remember the families and victims of terrorism. Freedom Meadow is located at the Warren Sports Complex near the volleyball courts. The Garden Club asks you to enter Warren Park through the Eldorado entrance. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to walk under the 100 foot American Flag and get a good spot to enjoy the 45 minute ceremony. Children will be invited to help plant freedom by tossing new wildflower seeds immediately following the ceremony. The Frisco Fire Department will then spray the meadow down to start the seeds on their new life. You might also want to bring your cameras! If you have any questions, please contact Lesa Truax at 469-733-2298 or lesatruax@gmail.com. March of Champions
