CALENDARS

For those that are using my Community Calendar, I have made some modifications to make it more user friendly. I have turned on the ability for anyone to enter their own calendar events. If you are part of an organization that has a function or event coming up, feel free to enter it. It will not display right away as all new items must be approved before being made public.  This calendar is a community calendar and not for business or private usage.   You can find the calendar HERE on my web site or directly on the calendar web site.  Both sites allow modifications.  To keep the newsletter from getting too large, I am reducing the number of repeat articles and simply moving them to the calendar.

Warrant List

The Collin County Sheriff's Office is now posting a searchable list of more than 35,000 active warrants on the county's web page. The list covers active arrest warrants from Class-C misdemeanors to First-degree felonies, and includes fine amounts, bond amounts and the name, physical description and the last known address of an offender. The web page also has instructions posted on how those on the list can pay off late fines and fees, plus ways to alert authorities on where to find those being sought.

The Active Warrants List includes offenses from fishing without a license to unpaid traffic tickets to burglary and other felony crimes that have been committed in Collin County. Late last year, the Collin County Sheriff's Office began posting the county jail's Current Inmate List  online as well. Both can be reached from the Sheriff's Office section of the website.

Sheriff Terry
G. Box said: "The Internet is an important source of information in today's world, and this addition to our website will allow the public access to up-to-the-minute critical information."

Greetings,Maher Maso

It has been a great start for July. Freedom Fest was a huge success from all the messages I have received.  I sure enjoyed taking my family out there and experiencing all the fun things and especially the fireworks.  The one thing I did not miss is being in the dunk tank  :-)

Traffic was challenging, but that was due to the success of the event.  We had many out-of-town visitors attending this years celebration.  Next year should see some improvement in traffic with the opening of the DNT!  And, of course, our Cities engineering and traffic department as well as well as our Police Department, are always looking for ways to improve the traffic flow.

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the Rangers game.  It was an all-around good day since the Rangers won and I had the honor of watching Senator Florence Shapiro throw out the first pitch.  Of course, I promptly contacted the Frisco Roughriders to see about getting her a spot on the pitching rotation!

Senator Shapiro is a great friend to Frisco and Collin County and I enjoyed visiting with her.  During my seven years on Council, she has never let me down and, in my opinion, she has never let Frisco down.  While sometimes we may disagree on specific issues, she has always been available to meet with us and discuss issues.  Senator Shapiro has always been creative in finding solutions for Frisco. We are very fortunate to have her in public service.

On Monday, Frisco hosted a group from Gwinnett County, Georgia.  The group is touring Collin County to get ideas for a future delegation visit from their elected officials.  Gwinnett County, like Collin County, is growing rapidly. They have identified Collin County and Frisco as communities that are handling that growth in unique ways.

The best compliment we can receive is having other communities come visit us to learn from the way we do things.  This is a testament to our communities and the hard work everyone puts in to make our area the best place to raise a family.

They were scheduling meetings with leaders in our County to get a feel for how our government works and to discuss specific projects.  I had the opportunity to meet with them and discuss some of the successes in our area including our Art programs.  I always enjoy talking about Frisco and the many partners we have here, so it was a very productive meeting. They will be in our area for the next three days.

If you have not heard, the water restrictions have been completely lifted and now is in conservation mode.  Please visit
HERE for additional details.  Please continue to conserve water, there is no need to even think about turning on your sprinklers.  Lowering our per-capita water usage will help us in our future attempts to increase water sources.

National Night Out is fast approaching. Please see the article below for additional information.  If you have never been involved in previous NNO events, you do not know what you are missing.  This is a great time to meet your neighbors and also tell the criminals that Frisco is watching.

Don't forget, movies in the square will continue until August 10th at Frisco Square.  My family attended last Friday's movie, Goonies!  It was a lot of fun.  Don't forget the mosquito spray.

I have had some minor problems the last few newsletters mailing certain domains.  If your e-mail address is in the City of Frisco (@friscotexas.gov), you may have not received the last several newsletters and/or agendas.  I hope this is fixed now, I will know shortly.  Of course, the problem with e-mails on the Keller Williams domain are still not making it (@kw.com).

Have a great week.

Maher

Frisco National Night Out

As our city has continued to grow we have been faced with more issues/challenges related to crime. Now more than ever we encourage every community to get involved proactively by partnering with the Frisco Police Department and Frisco Neighborhood Watch.

As you may be aware, every year on the first Tuesday of August, the Frisco Police Department, along with Frisco Neighborhood Watch, promote block parties throughout the City of Frisco for "National Night Out" (this year National Night Out  will be on August  7th). This annual event serves as a culmination of our year-long crime prevention efforts and is a great way for neighbors to get out and meet each other.  During NNO,  police/fire personnel, Mayor and city council members, other city officials, public safety-affiliated volunteers and McGruff attend block parties throughout the city.

As a kick-off to NNO, the City of Frisco will be hosting the 12th Annual Green Home -Health & Safety Fair. The fair will be held on August 4th at The Commons Park from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  The City of Frisco Green Home event is designed to promote energy conservation and environmental preservation, and will feather lots of energy and water conservation tips.  The Health & Safety event will provide free screenings by Centennial Medical Center and others.  Exhibitors representing numerous public safety/non-profit agencies will be on hand to promote safety, health, education and awareness.  Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby, hosted by the City of Frisco Parks & Recreation Department and the "Texas DPS Mobile Drive License Express"  providing driver's license renewals are just two of the special events. The North Texas Tollway Authority will also be holding a drawing for a free toll tag.

There will be a host of other activities including face painting, fingerprinting, bounce houses, clowns, robots, and much more. During the fair we will also be holding our annual Carter BloodCare Blood Drive.

National Night Out serves as a great way to kick-off or reinvigorate neighborhood watch efforts in both new and older communities alike.  We ask that all citizens, home owners' associations and other neighborhood groups support this very important crime prevention initiative by asking residents in every community to host block parties and participate in the events listed below.  Feel free to go to www.frisconeighborhoodwatch.com for more information about NNO and to download the block party registration form - as well as to get information on the neighborhood watch program in Frisco.

Collin County area small business owners, sole proprietors and entrepreneurs now have a useful source to aid their business efforts. Collin County Connection (CCC) is a new professional networking group which aims to maximize these efforts by hosting extraordinary networking events.

Join CCC on July 11th at 6:30pm for an evening of live jazz, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and business networking specifically designed to expand your business and social networks.  This event will take place at Josephine's Wine and Bistro at Lebanon and Dallas Parkway in Frisco. Fasten your seat belts, as this exclusive soiree will include a speed networking session for those who want to generate results or expand their business opportunities.

Hang out under the stars on the patio, engage in scintillating   conversations, grow your dreams, businesses and creative projects all in the course of one unforgettable evening. Bring plenty of business cards and marketing materials to exchange.

Space is limited for this event, so secure your reservation on the guest list by July 4th.  For additional information email CCC at collincountyconnection@yahoo.com or call (214) 387-6902. Cost per person: $25.00. Cash Bar. Casual, professional attire.
