It has been another busy week. It seems I always start out my agenda's with that statement.  I am coming up on my last full meeting on May 1st, unless, of course, there is a run-off election.  It has been a pleasure being your civil servant and I will talk more about that in my next newsletter.

Also, just a reminder, the Community Calendar is now fully operational!  You can view it on my web site or directly at the calendar web site. You can also make your own additions (subject to review), so if you know of any community events, feel free to add them!   The newsletter is below, but first..

Some traffic issues to be aware of.  Tonight (Saturday) is the Jimmy Buffett concert at Pizza Hut Park.  Yes, it is sold out and has been for some time. I think I am one of the few that is not going. If you can avoid the DNT, especially around Main Street, it would probably be a good idea. Please remember, many out-of-town guests are attending this concert, so please show them our hospitality.

I have also received numerous e-mails about the new proposed Recreation Fees. Many of the e-mails that are being circulated contain old information. The proposed fees have been reduced and a new structure is being proposed. The final decision has NOT been made yet. It is on the agenda (item #10 below). We would love to hear from you if you have additional comments on this issue. Please feel free to e-mail me or, better yet, attend the meeting.

Since these won't go out in my newsletter on time, let me add them here:  Today (Saturday) at 4PM to 9:30PM at Frisco Commons Park at 8000 McKinney Road, The Frisco Parks and Recreation Department has joined forces with Collin County Songwriters Association to offer the 3rd Annual Rockin' the Park.  Stop by the Amphitheater to enjoy free, family friendly, live origin music.  Bring a picnic and stay for a while! While the concert is free, consider bringing a canned good benefiting Frisco Family Services.

Also, today (Saturday), Bring the kids out to showcase their skills in Major League Baseball's annual "Pitch, Hit & Run" event. This FREE event is offered by the Parks & Recreation Department in conjunction with Major League Baseball. The event is for boys and girls ages 7-14 (age as of July 17, 2007) and will take place at Frisco's Youth Center Park, located at 7775 Camellia Lane, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pitch, Hit & Run is designed to encourage youth participation in baseball by allowing youngsters to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Participants will be required to throw pitches at a designated "strike zone" target, hit from a stationary tee for accuracy and distance, and run from second base to home plate for time.

Boys and girls will compete together in four age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. All participants competing at the local level will receive a participation prize and a chance to advance to the regional competition and then on to the national competition. National finalists receive an all expenses paid trip to San Francisco for the 2007 All-Star Game courtesy of Major League Baseball. For more information about this event, please contact Scot McCollum at 972-292-6509 or by email at smccollum@friscotexas.gov. In case of inclement weather on the day of the event, please call the Parks & Recreation rainout line at 972-292-6520.
